Preview: International Friendly Austria – Malta
All 16 competing nations at UEFA EURO 2008 have submitted their finalised 23-man squad lists to UEFA. In Austria many people had made a different decision, but Coach Hickersberger has voted his favourite squad. So this team has a hard standing in public, but they have a last chance to arouse euphoria for the EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland with a clear victory against Malta.
Possible Linups:
Austria:
Manninger – Garics, Prödl, Pogatetz, Gercaliu – Harnik, Stranzl, Säumel, Korkmaz – Linz, Hoffer
Malta:
Haber – Briffa, J.Mifsud, Dimech, Bajada – Mallia, Pace, Agius, Nwoko - Barbara, M.Mifsud
Analysis:
Austria didn’t win a game this year and this will be the last chance to celebrate a victory before the EURO 2008 starts and every player who will be in the squad will get his best to become a part of the starting eleven on 08/06/2008 against Croatia. The result of the last friendly game between Austria and Malta was 1-1 in February 2007 which has been played in Malta. This time they play in Graz (Austria) and I expect a clear victory for the Austrian team, because all players of the 23-man squad want to justify their nomination.
Kick-off: 30/05/2008 - 20:30 CEST
